Available Courses

  • Post your artwork for feedback from classmates. Open enrollment--start any time! 2-3 credits.

    Students who will participate just for fun and community (not detailed critiques): sign up for ART100. Freshmen and sophomores, sign up for ART200. Juniors, seniors, and continuing students, sign up for ART300.
  • For students who are not sure what level of math to sign up for. No prerequisite. No credit, but may be accepted as a substitute for required classes.
  • This course is used for students to learn specific needed math skills. Students can earn 1 credit for each 16 lessons.
  • This first half of the Elementary Algebra course covers the following topics: operations with real numbers; solving equations and inequalities; polynomials and exponents; factoring and solution of quadratic equations by factoring; rational expressions, ratio, and proportion. 3 credits. No prerequisites; basic math skills recommended.
  • Help "adopt" the Mathematics section of Wikibooks. Wikibooks is a project that, like Countdown Academy, is trying to make knowledge available for free to anyone who wants it. The Mathematics section is diverse but most titles are in early stages of development.

    Freshmen and sophomores sign up for 199. Juniors, seniors, continuing students, and those with 5 completed credits in Wikibooks projects may sign up for either.

    Open enrollment--start and finish any time! No deadlines!

    1 credit for each 16 articles written from nothing to a strong draft or substantially improved.
  • An informal conversation and discussion area for Spanish speakers and Spanish language learners.  No credit, but activities here may be incorporated into other classes.
  • An introductory class in listening to podcasts to improve comprehension and vocabulary. 2 cr.
  • Help "adopt" Wikilibros (Wikibooks in Spanish) and the Spanish section of Wikibooks. Wikibooks is a project that, like Countdown Academy, is trying to make knowledge available for free to anyone who wants it. Both seem to have plenty of room for more authors.

    Freshmen and sophomores sign up for 199. Juniors, seniors, continuing students, and those with 5 completed credits in Wikibooks projects may sign up for either.

  • Get Countdown Academy credit for FEMA independent study courses, and learn to help your community!
  • In the Continuing Lecture Series on Whatever We Feel Like Talking About Today, teachers expose students to a wide variety of ideas in areas that they might not have thought of taking a course in. Highly recommended for new Countdown Academy students. 1 credit, per day attended, when attended for 16 weeks.
