Why…oh.

Brain Cell 1: Why do I have so much to get done, this week?

Brain Cell 2: Because it got reshuffled from the weekend, because you didn’t get anything done on Saturday. Remember?

In short…I’m up to my eyeballs in schoolwork and it’s MY FAULT. Crap.

Irony, quiet, and pain

Why is it that a roomful of noisy fifth graders doesn’t give me a headache all day, but I get a headache when I’ve been home, where it’s quiet, for less than an hour?

Mission Duration: 1 minute, 13 seconds

Full Mission Profile

Considering that I was not yet two years old at the time, therefore probably either asleep or chewing on something, I don’t personally remember the Challenger launch on January 28, 1986. Even so, it’s on all of us to remember the sacrifice–and the dream.

Hello, “awtkb djqarm” at 210.147.5.193. Sorry, but your witty comment, “chagdxk ieodzqkb kbimjegaf lsxybgqo ifnphbj mpbwqev fnmulhbta,” just isn’t all that impressive to me. Added IP ban capability just for you, enjoy! :D

Polls and graphics

Added poll widget, and adjusted color in blog title gradient.

Just as a heads-up, I’m thinking about messing with the theme some more.  Just little fun stuff.

Chilsa is a klutz

That big grey goofy fuzzball just fell from the second story lofted area to the floor downstairs. He seems to be fine; I ruled out brain damage because he doesn’t seem to have a brain.

Pondering on the Next Upgrade

Posted by Avrila

Since they’ll probably become available from MySiteSpace at about the same time, I have to THINK…about whether to upgrade to 2.0.7 or 2.1. The advantage to 2.0.7, of course, is that the 2.0 series is the more mature product, plus I wouldn’t have to cross-check widget compatibility. On the other hand, 2.1 is actual new features instead of just bug fixes…but on the other other hand (cool, I have three hands now), I’m not totally jazzed about their idea of putting out new major releases faster. Like, I think they should’ve seen how well 2.1 performs in the field before they scheduled 2.2’s release date.

Thoughts, readers?

Another day…

Somehow, I actually accomplished stuff today!

  • Registered for (warning: links to PDF) ESOL and Middle School Math PRAXIS tests. On separate days, because they’re both 2-hour session 2 tests, so I got to pay two registration fees. Oww, my wallet.
  • Read some textbookish stuff–about a chapter and a half.
  • Collected standards related to Fractions and Decimals for the Math Methods project.
  • Went to the gym. It’ll never be my favorite hobby but it beats landing on Lexapro again, and between the stress and February 17th coming around again (why’s it have to be right after winter when the seasonal-affective component has also screwed with me for a while?) I need everything I can get working in my favor, and endorphins are a good thing.
  • Almost finished writing a Personal Narrative draft thing for Language Arts Methods. Ending doesn’t wanna. Must hit it with a rock.
  • Blog entry! If that counts…

Just one thing: I really must get hold of my advisor and tell her that I want a practicum placement for next term that’ll let me get the middle school math endorsement.

One of those mornings

Posted by Avrila

Couldn’t sleep last night. Didn’t really catch up on sleep over the weekend what with it being, effectively, only one day long.

Woke up for first alarm before 6 this morning long enough to set it for 20 minutes later…and the next thing I knew it was 8:30. If anyone was reading my mind at the time, they picked up a word that was definitely not suitable for the classroom. Called in immediately, actually got there at about 9:30 between pulling clothes on and getting stuck at a railroad crossing (the train friggling STOPPED!).

Once I was there it was fine…especially since this never happens to me. But, not a good start to the morning.
