In which I consider starting a small business

While chatting online today, I mentioned that I need to use up a bunch of flour–I have this huge bag of flour that I’d rather not have to take with me when I move. The conversation shifted from there to things that can be baked, and I remembered that I have, or at least had at one time, crazy bread baking skills. For the first two years of undergrad, I made most of my own bread, and kept eggs on hand by trading a loaf as needed with my aunt and uncle for extra eggs from their chickens…and when I showed up with “trade goods,” a feeding frenzy broke out.
Now, I have too much flour to use up to try to eat that much bread myself…but I have neighbors…so an idea popped into my head (this is often dangerous). At least theoretically, I could bake bread and sell it off to the neighbors. I would have to clean my kitchen up, really well; meant to do that anyway. Most of the time involved in making bread is stuff the dough can do by itself while I sleep or do homework. The only really time-consuming part would be taking it around to sell it, although even that might get better as I went along because I could go straight to the usual people. If I get $3 a loaf or two for $5, and sell four two-loaf batches a day, that’s $20 in my pocket. I won’t get rich this way but I could probably cover my grocery bill and car payment.
There are probably still some bugs to work out, but I think just I found my summer job.
I stand by what I say
