I’m running a campaign for two of my online friends, using the Microlite d20 rules. Getting everyone online at the same time has sometimes been a pain, but last night everyone just happened to be around for a couple hours, the phrase “since we’re all here, wanna play?” was used, and a spontaneous gaming session broke out.
A pit trap opened beneath the party and they barely jumped clear (if they hadn’t, they had enough rope to get everyone out as long as at least one got clear; also, the 10 foot pole trick would’ve caught on the edge of it). The rogue yoinked a tapestry off a wall. No one leveled up, but XP were given out.
I’m going to try to get the other somewhat experienced player to run the next one so I can try this system out from the players’ side too.
I’ve missed this stuff so much. It. Was. Awesome.

Also, the “getting everyone online at the same time” part is totally all Mark’s fault.

I’d say 75%…but yeah. And, yes, definitely need more people. Spot and his net will cause a TPK if we’re not careful.

Totally Mark’s fault. I am in no way to blame for anything. At all. Ever. *angel*
It’s your fault that you try and get a game going when I’m on the 360.

Here’s the thing…if we can actually plan a time to be online and playing, I can invite other people to play. People who will be useful for keeping the party alive.

I can do that, pretty much. It with Mark, however, that you’ll drive yourself nuts trying to get in place and on time. Remember that night he had to work a few weeks back, and he didn’t show up until like an hour and a half after he should have been home? Yeah.
All Mark’s fault.

If it comes to it, I can tell him that if he doesn’t show on time I’ll NPC the character until he does show up. The problem with that is it still puts you at a disadvantage because I really minimize the creative strategy when I NPC a character because I know too much and it’s just not really fair. I’d prefer to have a second functional PC before doing that, so you still have someone to work with, but if you’re OK with the disadvantage we could tell Spot how it’s gonna be now.

Oh, the other problem with the temporary-NPCing of characters is, it’s my policy that the character doesn’t gain XP if the player doesn’t show up unless previous arrangements have been made…in a larger party it wouldn’t matter as much, but you guys are probably going to need to level up just to beat that wraith.
