Vote for Chilsa

Posted by Avrila

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.

–United States Constitution [emphasis added]

All the qualifications for President apply only to people.  There’s nothing in there saying that only a person can be President, and nothing specifically ruling out any species, including felis domesticus…so…ladies, gentlemen, and Martians, I would like to nominate, running for the Kibble Cruncher Party and holding firm positions on animal rights, hunting, libraries, and free veterinary care, and promising to visit a vet regularly to keep from being corrupted by the poly ticks, the next President of the United States…Chilsa!

Kittens, anybody?

No, not from me.  Chilsa is fixed so I don’t have to worry about either of the girls making more.  Which is a good thing, because Panther is kind of a tramp.  She hits on cardboard boxes for crying out loud.

However, as I was stumbling upon the internet, I found these little guys.  The couple that found and adopted a cat, not knowing about her existing occupants (Mom, Dad, and Rianna, you all remember Marmalade, right?), is looking for homes for the litter.  As of about a month ago, three were still not spoken for.  Click the kittens to go to the original story for more details.

Seriously.  Click it.  They’re at their cutest bounciest stage by now, you know you want one.  I’d ask about the orange one myself if I weren’t already one cat over the management company’s limit.

Well, I didn’t see any mice…

Out at Aberystwyth Castle today, I met a pest control professional hard at work:

This particular pest control professional seemed to be just barely out of kittenhood, as well as accustomed to crazy tourists (probably they usually come bearing gifts of fish and chips, but an ear rub was also accepted).

Sometimes the bad cat wins…

Operation Cuddly Squirrel Update

Posted by Avrila

Squirrel, my skittiest kitty, is becoming less and less skitty. She still wasn’t too pleased with the idea when my sister crashed here for a night (although actually Panther was even skittier about Rianna…that surprised me since Panther’s an in-my-face kind of kitty), but quite often now, she curls up next to me and allows herself to be petted. Today she even rolled over a few times so I wauld give her a belly rub–I think it reminds her of being a kitten.

This is Squirrel when she was a kitten.  As you can see, she’s always been extremely cute.

Happy New Year!

News for the end of 2007 and beginning of 2008:

At 2:55 there will be 142 days left until school’s out.  Yes, I have a countdown.

The top-voted Darwin Award winner for 2007 was actually two people who fell to their doom while getting it on on a roof.  If only natural selection would hurry up and weed out more idiots so that nice smart guys would be able to find me.

My skitty-kitty, Squirrel, is becoming much friendlier lately.  With purring and everything.  As a result of Operation Cuddly Squirrel, I may soon have a formerly-skitty kitty on my hands.  After having her for a year and a half, it’s about time!
