Upgraded 6 hours after it rolled out, instead of 3 extra weeks of having to tolerate known bugs and security holes.  I heart this automatic upgrade plugin.

Would it be worth it for me to add Gravatar support here?  As in, would anyone actually use it?  They’re the Latest Big Thing that the Wordpress community is buzzing about, drowning out even the category/tag debate that popped up when word went out that there was going to be a version with both.  OTOH I don’t want to waste your load time if nobody would use it/care.  And yes, finding a usable OpenID plugin so that I can bring that back is a higher priority…it’s just not going smoothly.

No more waiting for Fantastico’s obnoxious 2-week turnaround times; I downloaded WPAU and used it to upgrade to Wordpress 2.3. It looks so far like nothing broke, I think. Now to figure out tags…

Please comment here if you’ve had problems trying to comment in about the last month (it’s fixed now, I think). It’d be especially helpful if anyone can remember exactly when they had the problem.

I just blocked the first spammer since last month.  Normally, of course, I’m ecstatic to not have to block twelve a day, but I have to wonder why they’re just not showing up.

Big news: After mucking about in WordPress PluginLand and playing with code a bit, I think I’ve got it right–OpenID users (including LiveJournal bloggers) can now use that identity here.

Fair warning, some of the implementing technology is still in its infancy, so hiccups may occur. Let me know and I’ll hit it with a rock if possible.

They have nothing to do with the entry they’re commenting on, and they’re all of a minute apart, so yeah, they’re spam. But philosophical spam is a new one on me.

I don’t even remember where I’m borrowing the title of this post from…no infringement intended.  Time for another round of IP bans, since there are a lot of repeats in the mix and a few slipped through Akismet (at least they weren’t horribly offensive ones like some of these…).  Anyone know of a setting or plugin to automagically make a list of IP addresses from Akismet spam?

Hey, notice me and stuff …I just fixed an issue by taking this change (which was made after my installation’s source code came out) and adding it manually…of course I’m not totally sure how it works, but it works…

It just took a very complete backup, a behind-the-scenes reinstall from the nice support folks at MySiteSpace, and a restore of backed-up files by me.  Let the insanity re-commence!

Note to self: never do a manual update again.  Just not worth it.
