Scamming the Scammers

Full disclosure:
When I was 15 or so, I “published” a poem with the International Library of Poetry, and my dad threw some money at them for stuff. I was young and stupid and they used that. This is not revenge. I’m not opposed to measured, appropriate revenge. I realized what they were (therefore that their praise of my poem was less than nothing), and that didn’t break me and I’m going on to be a writer in spite of them–that’s my revenge. This is raising awareness that they suck so that maybe someone else won’t get sucked in.

Here’s what’s going on now.
I decided that I’d like to do something for writerkind. I know or know of a few assorted people who write stuff but aren’t connected to a serious writing community (AbsoluteWrite FTW BTW), therefore don’t know about scams. So, the point of this project is to send out a tentacle of information, while also promoting sites that’ve been putting out the truth for a while.

What exactly is it?
I’m converting random-character spam that Akismet filters off of my blog into short poems and submitting them to Poetry.com, aka the International Library of Poetry. I’m also collecting them, and when I think I have enough, I’ll turn them into a complete-nonsense sting manuscript for PublishAmerica. By doing this, I’ll demonstrate that these two scams will take anything in order to weasel their way into writers’ wallets. And it’ll be fun!
